Background of the Study
Training and development are essential for shaping organizational culture by enhancing employee skills, improving productivity, and fostering innovation (Armstrong & Taylor, 2023). A strong organizational culture promotes shared values, effective communication, and employee commitment, ultimately leading to business success. Organizations that invest in training and development often experience improved workforce performance and increased adaptability to industry changes.
Airtel Nigeria, a leading telecommunications provider, operates in Kwara State, where competition in the telecom sector is intense. The company has implemented various training programs to enhance employee competencies and align its workforce with organizational goals. However, the extent to which training and development influence organizational culture at Airtel Nigeria remains underexplored (Okonkwo & Bello, 2024). This study seeks to assess the relationship between training and development and organizational culture within Airtel Nigeria in Kwara State.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the recognized benefits of training and development, many organizations struggle to align these programs with their organizational culture. In some cases, training initiatives are not effectively integrated into the company’s values, resulting in minimal impact on employee behavior and work ethics. Airtel Nigeria’s training programs aim to improve employee performance, but their influence on organizational culture in Kwara State is unclear. This study aims to bridge this knowledge gap by evaluating how training and development affect organizational culture at Airtel Nigeria.
